Why the choice of your title is important?

Your title is the first thing readers will see.

A good title should pique readers’ curiosity while not giving too much away about the plot.

I remember one of the first sets of stories I wrote was titled “My Fiance is Holy.”

The story was read by thousands of Facebook Users and had a lot of shares, reactions, and comments. A friend specifically told me it was because of the title she read the story. It made readers eager to find out what the story was all about.

Although book titles may appear to be secondary to the plot, the right title can help readers remember a novel or story and convert it into a bestseller.

Here are some tips to come up with the perfect title for your story and some examples:

⏺️ Name of a Character

You could use the name of the main Character or another important character.

Examples: Dabira by Mercy Oluwafunmito Adebisi; Being Mrs. Stevens by Kemi Owonibi.

⏺️ Profession of a Character.

Examples: Prophet by Frank Peretti, The Princess Spy, and The Warrior Maiden both by Melanie Dickerson.

In all your writing, avoid using a title that is already existing. It will only affect your book sales and marketing.

Also, consider using three or four-word titles to make search results more specific to your book especially when publishing on online stores.
