NINETEEN

“Sister Ama, I’m trying to perfectly understand you. Are you saying your husband slumped suddenly and he has been transferred from hospital to hospital since then?” Pastor Sam asked

“Pastor, this is the sixth hospital in two weeks. All the doctors keep saying there’s nothing wrong with him, they have conducted tests upon tests on him. They have concluded that we take him home for now.” Tears streamed down Ama’s face.

In just two weeks everything had taken such a drastic turn for the worst. Death was beckoning to Kofi; he was slipping away and she could do nothing but helplessly watch.

Pastor Sam began pacing.

“Sister Ama, this is a direct spiritual attack.” Pastor Sam said, disturbed.

That seemed like the perfect explanation.

“Only God knows where this attack is coming from.” Ama said rocking back and forth.

These past fourteen days seemed like fourteen months. She rubbed her eyes, fatigued. She was not just physically exhausted; she was mentally and emotionally drained.

“Maybe this is what God was warning you both about.”

“How do you mean sir?”

“Each time I pray for your family, there’s this strong spiritual heaviness I feel. I mentioned it to your husband. He completely discredited the whole thing.”

“He discredited it?” Ama asked her eyes wide with shock.

“He didn’t tell you?!” Pastor Sam asked equally shocked

“He didn’t!” Ama exclaimed, dreading where this was going

“The urgency became so strong in my spirit, I had to call him again. That night, I asked to speak with you both, he said you were asleep. And so, I just told him that the Holy spirit instructed that you both fast and pray regarding the issue.”

Ama clasped her hands over head, what Pastor Sam was implying weighed heavily on her.

“Eii, Kofi didn’t mention anything of that nature.” A memory flashed as if on cue,

“Wait a minute. It must have been that night. I was there with him. He said you called to ask about my new post as the Head Usher.”

“Ushering?!” Pastor Sam asked raising his brow.

“I asked him nothing regarding ushering. This doesn’t add up, something is fishy.” He said dumbfounded.

Ama’s heart began to beat a familiar beat that usually proceeded impending disaster.

“Eii, Kofi!!, how could you do such a thing? Why would you withhold such sensitive spiritual information from me? Your Wife! Eiii, now see what you have landed us in?!”
She exclaimed in distress, shaking his body back and forth continuously where he lay on the bed.

Kofi tried to speak, instead incoherent words are uttered accompanied with a drool.

“Oh Ewurade, this is pathetic” Pastor Sam said, his attention on Kofi.

Ama wrung her hands, distressed and restless, fresh tears running down her face.

“Well, Sister Ama, I sense in my spirit. Let us embark on a five-day intensive prayer and fasting. I just believe the Holy spirit would shine His light on this issue.”

“In the mean time, let us do as the doctors have said and make arrangements to take him home.”

Unable to stop the tears from flowing, she replied with a voice that relayed all the intensity of the pain in her heart.

“Ok sir.”

“Brethren, our next prayer point would be taken from the book of Isaiah 8:10. Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. We would raise our voices to heaven, every demonic coalition against Minister Kofi causing…” Brother Alfred began.

Pastor Sam stepped aside to rapidly gulp down the contents of the bottled water.

Every evening of the last three days Pastor Sam gathered together with the intercessors praying fervently for a divine intervention.
Sister Ama had to be blessed with divine strength because she had her hands full with taking care of Minister Kofi who couldn’t manage to do a single thing on his own, yet she squeezed out time to join the prayers.

There was no doubt that they were fighting a very fierce battle.

Brother Alfred led them through the prayer point, every intercessor took preferable praying positions.
Pastor Sam disposed the empty bottle and resumed his initial position.

Their voices raised as one filled the auditorium. Pastor Sam felt the electrifying charge in the atmosphere.

And he saw it, flames of fire burned on each head and spewed from their mouths.

The battle might indeed be an intense one, but Pastor Sam was assured of one thing. With God on their side, they were fighting from the point of victory

“Upon the wicked, the Lord shall rain fire, brimstone, and a horrible tempest. Jesus! the wicked that are after my husband’s life, Jesus! rain fire, rain brimstone and a horrible tempest!” Ama cried out, her voice ringing in the silence of the dead night.

She sat with her legs spread out on their porch.
Restless, she stood to her feet, pacing.

She poured out her heart as she sang deep songs of worship. For hours until the break of day, and then she went inside

She felt a stab of guilt, it had been so long she worshipped like this.

If Kofi was not fighting for his life, would she have sought the face of God at all?

Her personal relationship with God had been non existent until now, yet God had received her like she had never left. God was so merciful.

When a believer is faced with overwhelming situations like this. It would be definitely one of two things.

Either, it is a training process, that was meant to test the faith and strengthen it. Or a missile, a direct spiritual attack from the kingdom of darkness.

Ama could discern and she was aware this was a demonic attack that could have been averted had they been spiritually awake and alert.

As a couple, they had both watched as the fire on their altar died, unfortunately the devil was watching too.

The enemy sowed the tares, and now they were in the middle of a battle they were clearly unprepared for.
